With a focused objective to export fresh fruits and vegetables, the company interacted with officials of APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) and successfully obtained export registration and completed all statutory formalities in 2021.

During the COVID period, Trisagar actively participated in multiple online Buyer–Seller Meets organized by APEDA, which enabled direct interaction with importers from Middle East countries. These engagements helped the company build reliable market linkages and initiate structured communication with overseas buyers.

As a result of these efforts, Trisagar executed its first export consignment of Dussehri and Langda mangoes in May 2021, marking the beginning of its export journey.

Recognizing the importance of collective strength, Trisagar began working relentlessly on the ground to motivate farmers to join the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO). Farmers from across the Purvanchal region joined the initiative, supported by the District Agriculture Department, which played a crucial role in encouraging farmers to explore alternative and remunerative export markets.

Building Market Linkages & Farmer Empowerment

Initially, the district lacked organized collective farming practices and large-scale production clusters. To ensure consistent export supply and long-term buyer confidence, Trisagar expanded its operations to Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra, regions with already established horticulture fields.

By enrolling farmers as members, providing market access, and ensuring regular shipments, the company successfully began air shipments from Varanasi Airport, establishing supply continuity—an essential factor for overseas buyers.

At the early stage, challenges related to quality standards and harvesting practices were significant compared to established producing states like Maharashtra and Gujarat. Through continuous training, awareness programs, and buyer feedback, Trisagar gradually improved field practices. This resulted in increased buyer confidence and a healthier supply chain driven by real-time market inputs.

Green Chilli – A Turning Point

Trisagar identified a critical supply gap in green chilli exports, traditionally dominated by Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Weather disruptions created a unique opportunity for farmers from Varanasi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Ghazipur, regions with long-standing green chilli cultivation.

Although the commonly grown variety was not initially suitable for export, Trisagar took a calculated risk by sending trial shipments. Due to strong market demand, the consignments were approved—opening a new export avenue for Purvanchal farmers.

Regular air shipments followed from Varanasi Airport, later expanding through Lucknow Airport, connecting to Sharjah, Bahrain, and Doha.

Scaling Operations & Sea Exports

The success of air shipments attracted attention from established exporters based in Mumbai, leading to collaboration for sea shipments. This strategic move increased export volumes nearly fourfold, enabling wider farmer participation.

With guidance from experienced exporters, Trisagar successfully supplied eight containers to Mumbai exporters, which were shipped to Dubai.
